History of Antiques At Duck Crossing.

oldstore1In 1932 the Elizabethton Hardware Store begins construction of its new building located at 515 E. Elk Ave. This construction took about a year to complete.
On Feb 23 1933, the Elizabethton Hardware store finally opened it doors for Business, boasting of three floors and a mezzanine for a total of ____ sq shopping space. On the first day of business the store did a total of $11.00 dollars in sales, a large sum for that time period. Considering that men working in the saw mills of PA., were making a $.05 per hour and women in Tennessee cotton mills were bringing home $2.39 for a 50 hour week.  

The Elizabethton Hardware continued in business till about 1972 closing a page of the cities history.
Between the years of 1972 and the late 1980’s, the store woldstore2as occupied by Peter’s used furniture store. In the Late 1980’s the store became what was know as Duck Crossing. The name was a logical choice considering the ducks at the Covered Bridge Park down the street would make their way up Elk Ave. and cross in front of the old Elizabethton Hardware store. The original owners of the business was John and Lisa Bunn, now owners of the Coffee Company on Elk Ave. they sold the business in the early 90’s to Pat Green who ran the business for about 18 years. In 2008 the business was again sold to the now owner Montie Stevens who changed the Name of the store to what is it now Antiques at Duck Crossing.
The store now boost of 70 booths filled with many varieties and 37 different oldstore3vendors. Bella Bistro' resides within the Duck Crossing on the first floor offering a variety of contemporary Italian inspired food for you dining enjoyment. The store carries well know brands such as Swan Creek Candles, Howards wood treatments, Bee’s Wax furniture polish, Goddards Silver Foam, to mention a few. There is convenient parking located in front of the store as well as a private parking lot in the back. the store hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday 10am to 5Pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm
